I’m sure you know the satisfying feeling when you make someone laugh. Ah, it’s undescribable!! Utterly thrilling!! I’m personally a great fan of humor. I love to crack jokes at any given time and place. If you see a good chance, just go for it……unless you’re at a funeral. Don’t wanna end up in a coffin, do ya?
No but let’s talk seriously about humor for a second. Humor can do things which are much difficult otherwise. For instance, it’s a great mood lightener. Yeah, I know it sounds stupidly obvious but I can’t emphasize that enough. You know where the mood suddenly gets a bit tense where it looks like everyone is low-key planning to murder someone, a great one liner or joke can break up the tension.
Smiles are great for attracting attention or interest and it makes for a great first impression. Nobody likes a stiff face which has i-am-better-than-you-in-some-way-or-another written all over it. If a person can’t smile at you or laugh with you, it usually is because of arrogance or judginess. Prove me wrong, I say PROVE ME WRONG!!
Well, I’m pretty sure there are other reasons such as insecurity, uneasiness, vulnerability or some sort of other justifiable cause, but honestly that’s what it feels like. It feels like you are better than me, that’s why you can’t laugh with me. Oh, also make sure people are laughing with you and not at you. I never knew my self-respect could be threatened by a mere preposition (eye-roll).
I feel a person might have a hard time talking to someone, eating with someone or whatever, but laughing with someone is quite easy. Whether you are in a job interview, at a friend’s house, meeting someone new, with kids or even at workplace, take responsibility for bringing in the laughs. If someone can laugh with you, they feel at ease with you. They are more likely to trust you and will find you easy going. It also makes them feel welcome and puts them at ease.
Think, don’t you remember all the people that make you laugh like crazy? You remember them better than others because of how they make you feel. Similarly, if you want to be remembered well and make people cherish their memories of you, make them feel good! That’s it.
The moments you spend laughing are the ones you remember first later.
Be silly, crazy, stupid. It doesn’t matter. Life’s too short anyway so why not spend it laughing like a horse than worrying like a seal. (I have no idea how I came up with these similes, just go with it) Let people call you a joke, just make sure you’re a funny joke. hehe.
Laugh at unlaughable things, laugh at yourself too. I’m sure you’re hilarious. Once again, make people laugh with you, not at you. Either way who cares when you have snot running out of your nose and tears running down your leg… no what’s that? Face! I meant face!
P.S. Let me know how humor has benefited you in your life. Leave a comment below or a smile at the least.
