5 Ways to Stay Drama-free

Drama is enjoyable if orchestrated on a stage with the help of a script and actors in order to convey a message or to express feelings. However, some people mistake their lives as that stage, themselves as actors and gossip as script. It’s true that some people are dramaholics. They love drama in their lives and even more in others’, but it’s completely useless and worthless. Staying drama-free means no negative feelings, no unnecessary emotions, no blown-out-of proportion gossip and no damage whatsoever.

“Difficulty is inevitable. Drama is a choice.”

This is a common problem and often the cause of ruin in workplaces, friendships and relationships. So, let’s look at some ways how you can stay drama-free and avoid being a part of it as well (unless you love drama in which case you need to read this article very carefully).

Pay no mind to any gossip

It’s hard to avoid indulging in any juicy gossip going round about breakups, plastic surgeries, diet plans etc. Getting to know that someone is getting married or about a BFF feud is like the best info ever. People take pride in being the first ones to relay that info to others. Well, being around and indulging with these kinda people only puts your privacy and reputation at risk. Who’s to say that they will talk about you behind your back just like they’re doing with someone else? Besides, half of the rumors that go around aren’t even true and are mostly based on misunderstandings. Stay away and keep your record clean so that people won’t believe rumors about you because they have first-handedly witnessed your character.

Steer clear of drama queens

Drama queens only bring negativity in your life and nothing else. If you hang around drama queens, you will slowly start picking up their habits. You will wait and expect to know things from them that you know you won’t get to hear anywhere else. You will find yourself making huge deals out of nada just for the sake of attention and interest. C’mon, you’re better than that. We’re all better than that. No need to make a mountain out of a seed.

Protect your own reputation

You don’t need to discuss your personal matters and life with everyone except your really close friends. Talking just for the sake of talking isn’t really a wise thing to do. Do you really need to let everyone know that you had a fight with you husband? Is it everyone’s business to know you plan to ask for a raise? Fiction becomes facts fairly quickly if drama queens are involved. Your words will be twisted around your neck and you won’t be able to breathe. You filter out the information which is okay to be shared and which should be saved. This way you are doing you reputation a favor.

Take it face-to-face

This means that if you have had a problem with someone, talk to them directly instead of going behind their back. This is one of the important rules to follow to make your life drama-free. This is what makes everything much worse and what gives birth to gossips. Nobody needs to know what happened between you and the third person except you two. If it concerns someone else, that’s a different story. It’s also another thing if you tell someone what happened to seek their advice.

You be the judge

Stick to this rule for drama-free life. It has happened many times where I’ve believed someone’s reputation based on what I’ve heard and not seen. Afterwards, to my utter shame I’ve realized how wrong my prejudgment was. People who like to stir up drama will go around talking about a certain bad incident that might have happened between them and someone else. Even if they were right, did that person behave this way with you? Are they famous for behaving this way or acting that way? Do they usually affect people in a negative way? If the answer to any of these questions is negative, then you be the judge. You behave with them the way you perceive them to be and according to your judgment. If that person was famous for stirring up trouble or has gotten into multiple such incidents then you might as well take precautions.

So, I’m sure you might have been the victim of a drama queen or the target of a gossip somewhere in your life. What did you do to deal with it? Lemme know in the comment section below.
